Rita haney and dimebag as kids12/17/2023 20 with a feature titled 10 Things You Didn’t Know About ‘Dimebag’ Darrell Abbott. : Dimevision, Vol.1: Thats the Fun I Have : Dimebag Darrell, Aaron Barnes, John Brooks, Rita Haney, Bob Kakaha, Chris Kinzy, Pat Lachman. Loudwire celebrated what would have been Dime’s 45th birthday on Aug. Haney continues to honor Dime's memory for friends and fans and recently announced that the second annual Dimebash will go down Dec. But I saw him being interviewed on 'That Metal Show' and just some of the things he's e-mailed me and some things that he's said I know when I looked into his eyes, that's the Philip I know." And also I'm a little sketchy on trusting him quite all the way yet because I've seen it happen so many times. "Yeah, I'm pissed off and resent Philip for becoming a jackass and being a drug addict. “It's easy to direct your anger at the wrong people," she admits. You've gotta let go to continue on.”Įven though Haney admits she’s been in communication with Anselmo, she isn’t clearing the slate just yet - but seems to feel hopeful about the future. "Vinnie’s a little hot at me, but you know what, we're family and I just hope some day he sees the light that I know Darrell is about, which is forgiving, and I know it'll come in time, as far as him not holding on to something so bitter. “We had a little bump in the road since I started talking to Philip," adds Haney. While Haney may be willing to forgive Anselmo, Dime’s brother Vinnie doesn’t seem to be quite as accepting of the peace pipe judging by Haney’s comments. And some of them were really brutal, like the things with Philip and the drug abuse but I know him and I know that that's the way he would be as well." "And there's not one person in our camp or in our whole family that hasn't had a problem that he didn't forgive. "He had family members, friends, things that all of us have all done to each other, and he always forgave," she explains. It’s the same way – you’re celebrating his greatness and his legacy.Nodding to Dime’s forgiving nature, Haney feels that he would want her to forgive Anselmo. That’s the way I always approached it, the same way I play Saint Rhodes’ stuff every night when I’m up there with Ozzy. Yeah, I mean it would kind of be like if Eric Clapton was going to go out with Noel and Mitch and sing and play Jimmy’s stuff, in tribute and honour of Jimmy. Was your heart ever into that? Or was that not really something you were interested in? When Vinnie was still around, I remember the rumour mill was swirling around that they were trying to make a reunion happen with you on guitar. Yeah, without a doubt, because they were just awesome people. I think Dime and Rita would’ve been awesome parents, without a doubt. He would’ve made a great dad, anyway, just because he was a caring, loving, compassionate guy. “I think Dime’s legacy is right there with Tony Iommi, in regards that they started a genre of music”ĭo you think, if Dime was alive, he would’ve had kids? I would think that is kind of like a weird thing, you know? I agree. I mean, I saw some thing where somebody was like, “I just feel weird even playing here.” Yeah, I agree … It’s a bizarre thing, because you’re sitting on that stage and that’s where Dime lost his life – several people lost their lives that day. How did you feel about it? Did you think it was weird that they kept playing shows there? “I just saw that, and it was before I posted on Dime’s anniversary – of when we lost him – somebody had showed me a thing, and I guess it was the day before, on the 7th, they actually demolished the building.” Talking to Sense to promote the latest BLACK LABEL SOCIETY record Doom Crew Inc, in his kitchen cooking meat while wearing Viking horns (yes, seriously), he gave his thoughts on the demolition. For Zakk Wylde – legendary axeman for OZZY OSBOURNE and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY – he was a brother in arms, and an amazing friend. Dime was a guitar hero for legions of metal fans. Amongst them was metal legend Dimebag Darrell, famed guitarist for PANTERA, who was murdered onstage by a deranged fan while playing with his new band DAMAGEPLAN. In the March 2008 issue of Guitar World Abbott was featured on the cover story 'Dimebag, The Untold Story,' and interviews with his then-guitar techs Grady Champion and Rita Haney, and Vinnie Paul Abbott. The January 2008 issue of Metal Hammer was also dedicated to him. Earlier this month, a wrecking ball came smashing through the walls of the Alrosa Villa nightclub in Columbus, Ohio, as the infamous venue was bulldozed to make way for an affordable housing development, seventeen years after the horrific shooting that left five people dead. One year after his death, they also made a tribute issue.
